Covid 19 has brought food insecurity to families all over Montgomery County, including the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. To address this need, St. John's Norwood Episcopal Church organized a weekly food distribution that includes fresh produce, supplied by Nourish Now, and non-perishables that are purchased through monetary donations. Every Friday, cars line up on Old Georgetown Road to receive their packages at the BCC Rescue Squad parking lot. The Rotary Club of Metro Bethesda is one of several organizations that provide volunteers. Support is also offered by the Hyatt Regency and the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce. Each week up to 200 families are served. That's about 800 individuals, including 350 children.
