Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Montgomery, PG Counties
BREAKING: Hail and damaging wind gusts are possible during the warning period, according to the National Weather Service.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Montgomery and Prince George's counties Wednesday as well as parts of D.C. and northern Virginia. Issued around 5 p.m., the warning is effect until 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Radar indicated severe thunderstorms were on a line from near Great Falls to Fairfax to near Bull Run around 5 p.m. and were moving east at 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Quarter-sized hail and 60-mph wind gusts are possible, according to the warning.

These locations may be impacted, the National Weather Service reported: Bethesda, Rockville, Beltsville, Bowie, College Park, Fort Washington, Greenbelt, Arlington, Alexandria, Centreville, Waldorf, Dale City, Reston, Annandale, Clinton, Springfield, Fairfax, Langley Park, Fort Hunt and Vienna.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
