UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Montgomery County
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Montgomery and Prince George's counties Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Prince George's County and portions of Montgomery County. The warning expires at 7:30 p.m. ET.
At 6:43 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Potomac or over American Legion Bridge, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Forecasters warned of possible 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Expect wind damage to trees and powerlines.
Communities in the warning area include: Rockville, Bethesda, Olney, Beltsville, Aspen Hill, Potomac, North Bethesda, Laurel, North Potomac, White Oak, Chevy Chase, North Kensington, South Kensington, Hillandale and north Chevy Chase.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Montgomery and Prince George's counties -- along with Washington, DC, and parts of Northern Virginia -- until 10 p.m. Monday.
Cities in the watch area include: Aspen Hill, Bethesda, Bowie, Camp Springs, Clinton, College Park, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Greenbelt, Laurel, Potomac, Rockville, Silver Spring, Suitland-Silver Hill and Washington.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued by the National Weather Service when conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
A severe thunderstorm by definition is a thunderstorm that produces 1-inch hail or larger in diameter and/or winds equal or exceed 58 miles an hour. During the watch, people should review severe thunderstorm safety rules and be prepared to move a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.
Rain seems fairly likely over much of this week.
The National Weather Service forecast predicts:
Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 8pm. Low around 60. South wind around 6 mph becoming northeast in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 70. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Wednesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Wednesday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Thursday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Thursday Night: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
