Students Donate Food and Gifts to Benefit Local Families in Need

Students at Bethesda Country Day School held donation drives in support of Manna Food Center and Toys for Tots this holiday season

Students at Bethesda Country Day School recently donated more than 700 pounds of food to Manna Food Center in Gaithersburg and more than 175 gifts to Toys for Tots. Over the past month, students held schoolwide donation drives and worked together to collect the items, which will benefit local families in need during the holidays. Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of helping others.

Manna Food Center works to fight hunger, feed hope and transition Montgomery County residents from a place of scarcity to prosperity by providing safe, sufficient and nutritious food. Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during each holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.
