Suspects Arrested In Shooting Outside Westfield Montgomery Mall

BETHESDA, MD — Two men have been arrested for the shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda in March, Montgomery County Police announced Wednesday.

Police charged David Orlando Montalvo, 23, of an unconfirmed address and Lucas Austin Graves, 28, of an unconfirmed address for the March 9 shooting.

Officers responded to the mall at 7101 Democracy Blvd. at about 7:08 p.m. Friday for the report of the sound of shots fired. Officers located shell casings and parked cars that had been struck by bullets, but did not locate any shooting victims.

Detectives believe two groups of men became involved in a verbal argument that appears to have started off of mall property. The groups went to the parking lot and continued to argue until shots were fired by Montalvo and Graves.

The two suspects fired shots at two other adult males, police said. They then fled from the area.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Graves on March 19. He was arrested on April 11 and charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond, police said.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Montalvo on April 12, charging him with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was arrested on April 18 and ordered to be held without bond.
