Maryland Olympic swimming stars Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky joined the rest of the 2016 USA Olympic Swim Team for their own light-hearted version of Carpool Karaoke.
The YouTube video posted by the swimming organization features tongue in cheek sing-alongs to “Party in the USA,” “Bo$$,” “Welcome to My House” by Flo-Rida and the theme songs to "Pokemon," “Friends” and “That ‘70s Show.”’
Multiple athletes in various vehicles perfect the regular feature made famous by James Corden, host of “The Late Late Show” on CBS.

With Phelps in the driver’s seat, he and his teammates croon to Zac Brown’s “Chicken Fried. When they get to the lyrics “I thank god for my life, and for the stars and stripes,” the backseat passengers unfurl an American flag.
At one stoplight the crew asks for directions to Rio, and are told to turn “that-a-way.” South? OK.
One carful has everyone in swimsuits, while another car has two competitors dressed in lobster suits. And in between there’s a messy trip through a fast-food drive-up lane that involves ice cream and too many dipping sauces.
No phone calls were allowed to interrupt. When Phelps’ mother calls he says, “Hey Mom we’re doing car pool karaoke right now, let me call you back.”
Ledecky bails as driver in her stint saying, “I’m out, I don’t feel safe driving.” Her passengers hoot and laugh, so maybe she has something there.

Expectations are huge for Ledecky in Rio de Janeiro. She has the world’s fastest time in the 200, and will also swim in the 400 and 800 meter events individually, and take part in the 4x200 free relay.
The games are a cap on Phelps’ historic career. He will carry the American flag on Friday into the opening ceremony for the games. The Towson native is the most decorated Olympian of all time, with 18 gold medals to his name.
Phelps will swim in the 200-meter butterfly on Aug. 8, the 200-meter individual medley on Aug. 10 and 100-meter butterfly on Aug. 11.
