BETHESDA, MD — One of the most eye-catching homes on the market in Montgomery County is the Tait-Trussell house in Bethesda, named after an early GOP power broker and his son-in-law, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter.

The home's first owner was Galen L. Tait, one of the developers of American University Park. An influential Republican, in 1917 Tait defeated Democratic President Woodrow Wilson’s attempt to keep black soldiers from voting by restricting them to military bases on Election Day, says DC Refined. Into the 1950s, Tait led the Republican Party in Maryland.

The property is also named after its second owner, C.P. "Peck" Trussell, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The Baltimore Sun. Trussell was the husband of Tait’s daughter, Beatrice, says DC Curbed.
