Sold! 'Mansion Murders' Home Sells for $3 Million: Report

The DC “Mansion Murders” home, where four grisly murders took place in May, has already sold, after it went on the market Oct. 29, according to a report by The Washington Post.

Zillow also notes Friday the home is “off market.”

The home was for sale for $3,250,000; the Post notes it sold for “more than $3 million.” Redfin notes that the median real estate value in the Woodland-Normanstone Terrace area is $7,625,000 or $1,095 per square foot.

The mansion is located at 3201 Woodland Drive, NW, Washington, D.C. No word on who bought the house or whether they plan to knock it down.

Savvas Savopoulos, 46, and his wife, Amy, son Philip, 10, and housekeeper Vera Figueroa, were all found murdered in their Northwest DC mansion May 14. Firefighters found their bodies while putting out a blaze at the home. Two daughters survived; they were away at school.

All were found dead in the family’s multimillion-dollar mansion, where firefighters were called to put out a blaze at the home in the exclusive neighborhood near the National Cathedral that includes the home of Vice President Joe Biden.

Daron Dylon Wint, 34, of Lanham, Maryland, was arrested in May in D.C. on charges of first-degree felony murder in the case. Authorities said that DNA left on a crust of leftover pizza at the mansion led police to Wint.

At a hearing in June, investigators said they found a second sample of Wint’s DNA on a vest inside Amy Savopoulos’ burned Porsche, which was left in New Carrollton, reports WTOP.

The motive for the killings was reportedly money. Police say $40,000 was delivered to the home the day of the murders by an assistant to Savopoulos. Wint, a welder, had worked for American Iron Works at one time.

Wint moved to the United States from Guyana in 2000 and joined the U.S. Marines in 2001; Wint received a medical discharge from the Marines a few months later, the New York Times reported.

Authorities have said they believe Wint didn’t act alone, but have not charged anyone else in the murders. CNN reported in June that the Lanham man charged in the DC mansion murders has a cousin who was fired from the company run by Savvas Savopoulos.

The description for the home at 3201 Woodland Dr. NW, on Zillow, reads: 16,281 sf (0.37 acres) corner lot in prime Mass Ave Heights location. The home, listed for sale on Oct. 29, is for sale for $3,250,000; it last sold in July 2001 for $2,987,000.
