Anne Arundel Community College Reopens After Gas Leak

Anne Arundel Community College shut down July 1 after a gas leak was detected. The school reopened July 2 with no further incidents.

ARNOLD, MD -- Anne Arundel Community College's Arnold location reopened July 2 after shutting down abruptly due to a gas leak detected July 1. College officials communicated with students via social media that the gas leak had occurred in the careers building and provided direction to the students as to how to respond.

School officials then communicated on Facebook July 1 that the gas leak also had affected the ceramics building and all occupants should evacuate immediately to parking lot A. The entire campus shut down for the rest of the day as a precaution, school officials said, so that repairs could be made to remedy the gas leak. Angie Hamlet, a college spokesperson, confirmed that no injuries had occurred.
