Back to School: Anne Arundel County Schools 2015-16 Calendar

If you’re new to Annapolis, it can be confusing to plan for the first day of school. In Anne Arundel County Public Schools, the start date depends on what grade your child is in.

One thing is for sure: By the end of August every child will be back in the classroom. Most return to school Aug. 25.

Here’s a look at key dates for the 2015-16 school year:

Aug. 25: Schools open for all grades

Aug. 24: Schools open grades 1-5 and 6 and 9

Aug. 25: Schools open for grades 1-12

Aug. 26-28: Staggered starts for kindergarten and full-day pre-kindergarten

Aug. 27: School starts for ECI students

Aug. 27, 28, 31: Staggered starts for half-day pre-kindergarten.

Aug. 31: First day for all kindergarten and full-day pre-kindergarent

Sept. 7: Labor Day (system-wide holiday)

Sept. 14: Rosh Hashanah (system-wide holiday)

Sept. 23: Yom Kippur (system-wide holiday)

Oct. 15: Professional development day, two-hour early dismissal

Oct. 16: MSEA convention day, no school for students

Oct. 30: Two-hour early dismissal

Nov. 11: Professional development, two-hour early dismissal

Nov. 23-24: Parent/teacher conferences, no school for students

Nov. 25-27: Thanksgiving (system-wide holiday)

Dec. 24 - Jan. 1: Winter break (system-wide holiday)

Jan. 18: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (system-wide holiday)

Jan. 19-22: High school semester exams, two-hour early dismissals

Jan. 25: No school for students and teachers

Jan. 26: Teacher workday, no school for students

Feb. 12: Professional development day, two-hour early dismissal

Feb. 15: Presidents’ Day (system-wide holiday)

Feb. 22: Parent/teacher conferences, no school for students

March 21-28: Easter holiday/spring break, no school

April 11: Two-hour early dismissal

April 26: Primary election day, no school

April 27: Two-hour early dismissal

May 30: Memorial Day holiday, no school

June 14-17: Two-hour early dismissal

June 17: Last day of school for students
