Man Hit By Car While Helping A Stranger Hit By Another Vehicle

While rendering first aid to a man struck by a vehicle, a Good Samaritan was hit by a second passing vehicle in Arnold, police say.

ARNOLD, MD — Two men were hit by separate vehicles — one victim was struck while trying to help the first injured man — at 1209 Ritchie Highway in Arnold June 23. The incident occurred at 10:25 p.m. after a man estimated to be in his 40s was hit by a driver. A driver stopped to help the injured pedestrian and the second man, age 36, was then hit by a different vehicle.

The first male victim was flown by Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The second victim was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department was originally dispatched for the first accident, then discovered the second victim after arriving on the scene, a report said.
