One Dead, Three Injured in Head-On Gambrills Crash (Update)
Anne Arundel County Police say speed appears to have been a factor in the fatal wreck near Arundel High School. Two children were injured.

Updated at 4:25 p.m.
A Gambrills woman was killed, an Odenton man was critically injured and two children are in unknown condition after a head-on crash Tuesday near Arundel High School.
Anne Arundel County Police urged drivers to avoid the area of MD 175 and Burns Crossing for several hours so patients could be flown out via medical helicopter, and investigators could examine the crash scene. The roads reopened late Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on Burns Crossing Road near Bluegrass Way in Gambrills.
Investigators say a Dodge Durango driven by Nicholas John Korn, 33, of 549 Retreat Court in Odenton was southbound on Burns Crossing Road when it failed to negotiate the turn. The Dodge began to skid, crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2003 Toyota Camry head-on.

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified the driver killed as Shannon Elise Fearon, 28, of 906 Autumn Valley Lane in Gambrills. The Camry was owned by Dustin C. Mollick of the same address.
Korn was taken by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries. Two juvenile passengers in the Dodge – ages 7 and 2 -- were taken to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center with unknown injuries, police say.
The Durango was owned by Susan L. Johnson, also of 549 Retreat Court in Odenton.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Korn’s failure to remain right of center, police say. Speed was a factor, but there were no signs of alcohol use. All occupants appear to have been correctly seat-belted.
Charges are pending a review by the State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County.
