Board of Education District 1 - 4 Results

In the Board of Education race, the top two candidates in each district will advance. As of midnight, these are the leaders:

District 1: Rosalind  A. Johnson (2105 votes) and David Henry Murray (1840 votes)

David was appointed by Gov. Martin O'Malley to the Maryland State Board of Education. Through his platform, Murray wants to achieve financial literacy, expand options for specialty programs and ensure that money is used directly for the benefit of students.

Rosalind A. Johnson currently serves on the Board of Education and has taught for 30 years in Prince George's County public schools. Johnson hopes to see the High School Initiative begin, more funding based on an increased tax base, more parent involvement and continued reform based on accountability.

District 2: Because Peggy Higgins and Mark Cook were the only two candidates in District 2, both will advance to the general election.

District 3: Amber Waller (2978 votes) and Charles Coleman (1045 votes) are currently in the lead.

Waller is a native of Roanoke, Va., and is a graduate of Columbia Union College. Her professional experience includes work as an executive administrator and program manager for a variety of organizations. She has also served as the president and vice president  of the Prince George's County PTA and has served as the 8th Precinct Civic Association (Chillum) president.

District 4: Patricia Eubanks (2891 votes) and Aimee Olivo (2750 votes)

Eubanks is a single mother of two children, and she spent 12 years on the executive level on the PTA of her children's schools. She is also a former full-time substitute teacher in Prince George's Public Schools.

Olivo has lived in Prince George's County since 2004. She grew up attending public schools, and graduated from Trinity College (now Trinity University), and earned a Master's Degree in business administration from Marymount University. Aimee has a background as a professional development officer at two local universities, and is currently a stay at home mom to her two children.
