Editor's Notebook: Patch Celebrates Its 100th Site Launch
Many more Maryland sites are on the way.
Today Patch launches its 100th site nationwide, which is someting of a milestone for us. The College Park Patch has only been in the area for a few weeks now, but Patch has been around since 2008, when the company was founded in New York City.
Patch made its initial mark in February 2009 with launches in three New Jersey communities: Maplewood, South Orange and Millburn-Short Hills. We've since expanded to nine states from New York to California. Among all the sites, we have produced a whopping 55,000 articles and nearly 1 million photos.
The College Park Patch, along with neighboring Riverdale Park - University Park Patch, were the first to launch in Maryland, but more are on the way. Hyattsville Patch launches at the end of this week, and Wheaton Patch will enter the world next week as the first of a handful of Patches in Montgomery County.
