Editor's Pick for Weekend Events
The Women's Distance Festival and the Maryland State Fair
This week, Patch offers you two drastically different options for weekend entertainment.
The first is the Women's Distance Festival /Run/Walk for Haiti 5K, sponsored by the Prince George's Running Club and J.A Clermont Foundation. A women's only run will begin at 8 a.m., and a men's run and family walk will begin at 9 a.m.
Race-day registration will be held from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. for the women's race, and 8 a.m. - 8:45 a.m for the men's race and family walk. The course is around Lake Artemesia and, as the title suggests, participants are welcome to take in the scenery at the pace of their choosing. All races will start and end at the erstwhile 94th Aerosquadron Restaurant at 5240 Paint Branch Parkway. Proceeds from the race will go to helping homeless youth in Haiti.

On a completely seperate note, the fair is coming to town! Or, at least, Timonium. The Maryland State Fair kicks off its eleven day stint tomorow at the Timonium Fair Grounds. Come if you're a fan of corndogs, fried Twinkies and other artery-clogging fair...fare. As a bonus, this year's concert series will feature country singer Gretchen Wilson, Poison frontman Bret Michaels, and the tween sensation Justin Bieber.
