Update: Weekly Coffee Club Postponed Indefinitely

Lack of email sign-ups caused the Prince George's police department to suspend the event.

It was only a scant few weeks ago that the Prince George's County Police Department announced that it would be holding a weekly Coffee Club at Starbucks in attempt to engage members of the community. Now, seemingly without warning, the Coffee Club has been postponed until further notice.

Capt. Edward Walters, the original architect of the event, has been out of town since Tuesday and therefore unable to comment, said Lavern Green, Captain Walters' administrative assistant. She said she was unsure as to why the Coffee Club was not being held.

"He didn't give me an exact reason," she said.

College Park residents who wish to express interest in the event - whenever it may be - should email Officer Black at jjblack@co.pg.md.us.

Until the Coffee Club comes to fruition, concerned residents may attend the Citizens Advisory Committee meetings, held the last Wednesday of each month at the county police department's District 1 Headquarters in Hyattsville. Those interested should email Lavern Green at lgreen@co.pg.md.us.
