2020 Black History Expo, Black Author Spotlight In Howard County
The 2020 Black History Expo will be Feb. 15 in Columbia and the Black Author Spotlight will be Feb. 22 in Laurel.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — There will be two events recognizing Black History Month in Columbia and Laurel. The 2020 Black History Expo will be Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Long Reach High School, 6101 Old Dobbin Lane, Columbia The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Howard County and the Howard County Public School System are hosting the expo.
This year’s expo will feature a variety of exhibits, an educational workshop on the film Meet Me at Equality hosted by the county’s Office of Human Rights, entertainment and a panel discussion focused around the year’s theme: “African Americans and the Vote.”
The Howard County Library System will host a Black Author Spotlight Feb. 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Savage Branch, 9525 Durness Lane, Laurel. The afternoon will be spent discussing book recommendations from various genres and collections. The event is geared toward youth ages 11 and older, as well as adults. Registration is required and can be done online or by calling the Savage Branch at 410-313-0760.
