Broadway Connections at Glenelg High School
Glenelg Broadway Connections' production of Shrek the Musical, JR. highlights a unique and inclusive theatrical experience for students.
In its tenth year of operation, the Broadway Connections program, created by the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts and the Loyola University of Maryland’s Clinical Center, will showcase a performance of Shrek the Musical, JR. in conjunction with Glenelg High School this Friday.
Broadway Connections brings students aged 11-19 with disabilities together with their peers to create a unique and inclusive theatrical experience. With the close support of specialists in speech pathology, special education, music, and theatre, the program is designed to develop each participant’s social and communication skills through learning music, dance, and dialogue.
In addition to Glenelg High School, Broadway Connections has been held in Reservoir High School, Mount Hebron High School, and Lime Kiln Middle School.

Peer Jess Foster says of her experience, “it’s amazing to see over the years how the kids have grown and have become so much more comfortable onstage and in life with other people.”
Glenelg Broadway Connections’ performance of Shrek the Musical JR. will be held Friday, February 21st at 6PM in the Glenelg High School Auditorium at no cost.
