Construction Closes Oakland Mills Pedestrian Tunnel
A project to repair drainage issues at the Oakland Mills Pedestrian Tunnel in Columbia has shut down the tunnel now through mid-October.
COLUMBIA, MD — Bicyclists and pedestrians can no longer access the Oakland Mills pedestrian tunnel in Columbia, which is located under the roadway between Dasher Court and Downdale Place. The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is performing drainage repairs at both ends of the pedestrian tunnel.
Construction began Sept. 25 and, weather permitting, will be completed by mid-October. During construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the tunnel will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists. Informational signage and detour maps will be posted and available south of Summer Rambo Court on the pathway and north of the tunnel entrance on Oakland Mills Road by the sidewalk.
