Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire returns on October 13th

Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire is a celebration of all things creative and innovative - high and low tech. Get inspired!

Columbia, MD

Want to learn how to program a robot? Make jewelry out of broken computer parts? Power lights from a pumpkin? Make a medieval wood instrument? You can learn all this and more on Sunday October 13th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Second Annual Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods.

Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire is a celebration of creativity and innovation. The event is licensed by and part of a movement of worldwide Maker Faires, under the auspices of Make Community. The Faire is free to attend, but tickets are highly encouraged via Eventbrite.

Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire continues Howard County Executive Calvin Ball's focus on innovation. Dr. Ball stated that “Howard County is the perfect gathering place for curious people and innovative ideas. From our Applied Physics Lab to Merriweather Post Pavilion to our Innovation Center, this community is home to world-renowned creativity and invention. We look forward to supporting the second annual Mini Maker Faire at the heart of our technology, culture, and commerce hub in the Merriweather District of Downtown Columbia.”

The Faire has substantially expanded in its second year. "Last year, we didn't know what to expect," says Nina Basu, President & CEO of the Inner Arbor Trust, which runs Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. "We were thrilled when over 3,000 people came to celebrate STEAM, science technology, engineering, art, and math. This year is even better!"

Downtown Columbia Mini Maker Faire is a collaboration between the Inner Arbor Trust, Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, Downtown Columbia Partnership, Downtown Columbia Arts and Culture Commission, and Howard County Tech Council.
