HoCo Officers Track Down Lost Boy Wandering In Chilly Temps

The little boy had wandered away from his caregiver wearing flip flops, the Howard County Police Department shared.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — As chilly winter temperatures blanket Howard County, everyone is advised to take precautions with their pets and pint-sized humans. So when a 10-year-old boy with Down syndrome wandered away from his caregiver wearing flip flops Friday, Howard County Police was notified and raced to the rescue.

Seven officers with Platoon A were dispatched to the Columbia neighborhood where the boy lives and canvassed the area. Within 15 minutes, they found the little boy and delivered him back home safely. It was approximately 25 degrees at the time he went missing.

"We do get this type of call from time to time, where a child or adult with a developmental disability is missing. Thankfully officers located this (little boy) quickly," Howard County Police Department spokesperson Lori Boone told Patch.
