Howard County General Opens New Outpatient Sleep Clinic
The clinic now offers patients to test for sleeping disorders in the comfort of their own homes.

Struggling with insomnia? Or maybe you're falling asleep too much? Howard County General Hospital may have answers, and the option to figure it out in the comfort of your own home.
Sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia and narcolepsy can affect the livelihoods of the people they afflict. Many doctors refer patients suffering from symptoms of these conditions to sleep centers. Howard County General Hospital (HCGH) has accepted patients with sleeping problems for years and studied them at their in-house sleep center.
While the in-house sleep center is described as "nicely furnished" by Sharon Sopp, a spokesperson for HCGH, many people enjoy sleeping in their home.
This week, HCGH announced the opening of its outpatient clinic at the sleep center. The clinic will allow some patients to be tested for sleeping disorders in their homes.
"The technology is changing, so some sleep studies can be done by patients at home," said Sopp. "They can sleep in the comfort of their own home, and still be monitored."
The Johns Hopkins Center for Sleep is staffed by a variety of Johns Hopkins specialists. The center treats a wide range of sleep disorders and patients of all ages, according to a hospital statement.
