Howard County Under Flood Warning As Zeta Approaches

Tropical Storm Zeta is expected to pass through the Mid-Atlantic Thursday, bringing localized flooding to Howard County.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Baltimore-Washington region, including Howard County.

As of 1:30 p.m., officials said 1 to 2 inches of rain had fallen, with up to 1.5 inches of additional rain possible. Flooding has begun or will start shortly in the area, officials advise.

The flood warning is in effect from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

  • Arlington
  • Alexandria
  • Rockville
  • Bethesda
  • Bowie
  • Severn
  • Annandale
  • Olney
  • Pikesville
  • Springfield
  • College Park
  • Crofton
  • Middle River
  • Greenbelt
  • Langley Park
  • Beltsville
  • Riviera Beach

During a flood warning, flooding is imminent or occurring, and people should not drive or walk through water-covered roads.

A gale warning is also in effect from 1 to 10 p.m.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, weather officials said Tropical Storm Zeta was 100 miles north-northeast of Asheville, N.C. It is expected to move across parts of the Mid-Atlantic Thursday afternoon.
