Howard County Under Wind Advisory Monday Until Midnight
The wind advisory takes effect at 2 p.m. and calls for gusts up to 50 mph Monday in Howard County and other parts of Maryland.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Bring in the patio furniture and anchor down the trampoline today because Howard County is under a wind advisory Monday calling for powerful wind gusts. In fact, the winds are expected to be so severe that trees may fall and power could be knocked out, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the advisory.
Forecasters say gusts up to 50 mph are possible along with 15 to 25 mph northwest winds. The advisory begins at 2 p.m. and lasts until midnight for Allegany, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Washington counties as well as Baltimore City.
Gusts could blow down tree limbs and toss unsecured objects, according to the National Weather Service. People should tie down any loose objects outside, officials advise. Since the ground is saturated, it will be easier for trees to topple over, according to the advisory. Drivers should be extra careful, keeping both hands on the wheel, especially if they are in high-profile vehicles, the National Weather Service stated.
