Maryland Snow Totals On Sunday, January 13

The weekend snowstorm dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of Maryland, based on preliminary reports to the National Weather Service.

More than a foot of snow was reported in parts of central Maryland during the Jan. 13 snowfall. In some areas, the snow stopped and started again. In others, flakes streamed down from Saturday night straight through Sunday.

So far, it appears that Howard and Montgomery counties had the highest snowfall, with 13 inches reported.

The following snowfall totals are preliminary data submitted to the National Weather Service as of 1:41 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14. All measurements were recorded on Sunday, Jan. 13, unless noted.

Snow totals from the Eastern Shore were not initially available. The National Weather Service office that handles that area, based in Mount Holly, New Jersey, issued this statement over the weekend: "With the partial government shutdown, local office policy states we can not issue anything that isn't operationally critical." Totals were released Monday night.
