Merriweather Post Pavilion Will Remain Closed For Now

A spokesperson with the concert venue said it did not make sense financially to open at half capacity.

COLUMBIA, MD — Although Maryland's latest ease on restrictions related to the coronavirus allows for concert venues to open at half capacity, the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia will remain closed for the time being.

According to a spokesperson with the venue, the Merriweather Post Pavilion can accommodate approximately 20,000 people but won't be opening soon. She told WJZ that it "doesn't make sense financially." The spokesperson could not comment about whether or not the summer concert season would happen and said it would depend upon vaccine distribution.
