Special Staircase Wards Off Witches In $400K Columbia Home

The odd-looking staircase supposedly saves space, but many people insist that it is designed to keep witches away.

COLUMBIA, MD — The cutest house sitting on a corner lot in Columbia has come up for sale. Amenities abound in this extensively remodeled $400,000 Victorian-style home located not far from Lake Elkhorn. The three-bedroom home has two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, along with stainless steel appliances, new cabinets, quartz countertops and a moveable kitchen island with a butcher block.

The renovated attic has created a recreation area that can be used as another bedroom, study area or play area. But it's the staircase leading up to the attic area that's gone viral on social media.

Apparently, the strange staircase is believed to offer protection against supernatural forces. The brown carpeted staircase has staggered steps and looks interesting to navigate. Fox Business reported that many people refer to this structure as "witches stairs." According to folklore, witches cannot navigate the stairs, the outlet reported.
