Student-Led Walkout In HoCo Shows Support For SRO Removal
The Wilde Lake H.S. Students for Social Justice group said SROs have a "disproportionately negative impact on Black and brown students."
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A walkout supporting the removal of school resource officers in the Howard County Public School System held Thursday at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia drew a crowd of student supporters.
Organized by the Wilde Lake High School Students for Social Justice group, the group said resource officers have a "disproportionately negative impact on Black and brown students."
Instead of SROs, the group would like to see the school system implement restorative practices.
