Tornado Warning in Effect for Howard, Baltimore Counties

Get indoors if possible; the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for southwestern Baltimore County and Howard County.

The tornado warning is in effect until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21.

Weather officials said that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Sykesville after 1:30 p.m. and was moving southeast at 35 mph.

Debris may fly, and trees may be damaged. People should take cover and move to the basement or lowest level of a stable building, avoiding windows. Those outside or in vehicles should move to the nearest shelter.

The storm is projected to hit these areas around the following times, according to the weather service:

  • 1:55 p.m. Columbia
  • 2 p.m. Elkridge, Catonsville, Arbutus and Savage
