Howard County Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony In Columbia Nov. 10

The Veterans Day Parade in Columbia will start at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 10 followed by a ceremony honoring veterans at Lake Kittamaqundi.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Veterans Day Parade will be held Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m. Hosted by the Howard County Veterans Foundation, Inc., in partnership with the Columbia Association, the fifth annual parade honors all branches of the U.S. Military, the National Guard, First Responders and their families.

The parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. from Merriweather Post Pavilion, travel along Little Patuxent Parkway and end at the future site of the Howard County Veterans Monument at Lake Kittamaqundi. This year’s parade will feature marching bands, military units and lots of hometown heroes.

A ceremony honoring veterans will be held after the parade at Lake Kittamaqundi at 11 a.m. with several dignities on hand including Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, Howard County Veterans Foundation President Robert Gillette and Columbia Association President and CEO Milton W. Matthews.

There will be music by the Columbia Orchestra, performances by Samantha Deininger and the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts' Young Columbians, and Color Guard provided by Atholton High School's JROTC.

The event will feature family friendly activities, including a card-making station for troops and the opportunity to explore vintage military vehicles. Hot chocolate, coffee and bakery items will be provided by event sponsors Clyde's of Columbia and Whole Foods Market. Flags will be provided to kids by the Columbia Association.
