Celebrating Summer Solstice in Crofton

You may want to take advantage of those extra sunny hours with a trip to the beach, a backyard barbecue or one of these local ways to celebrate the summer solstice.

Here are some things to do nearby:
Head to Lothian for a hike in the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. The hike will last from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Anyone age 10 or older can attend at a cost of $3 for those younger than 18, and $5 for adults.

Take a trip to the beach at in Annapolis, on the tip of the Broadneck peninsula.
You and the family could also take a hike or bike trip along the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail.
If you're willing to Baltimore, you can experience the solstice at the on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. This annual fundraiser benefits the education and outreach programs of the science center and includes live music, food and cocktails. Purchase tickets online for $125.
