Crofton Group Helps Unaccompanied Minor Immigrants Find Families

While searching for their loved ones in the U.S., Bethany Christian Services in Crofton places the children with temporary foster families.

CROFTON, MD — Bethany Christian Services in Crofton needs your help. The organization not only offers support for people seeking to adopt and assists expecting parents and foster parents, but they also are working to help the children who cross the Mexican border alone by placing them with temporary foster families in Maryland.

Mateo Salasar with Bethany Christian Services told WBAL-TV that the unaccompanied minors' parents are "desperate." The kiddos are placed with temporary foster parents once in the U.S. while Bethany Christian Services works to connect the youth with family members in America. Salasar shared that one little girl memorized her grandmother's phone number in the U.S. by singing it.

“...she would repeat and sing it over and over in her head as the only way she could remember that,” Salasar said.
