Crofton Man Arrested With $17K In Drugs, $20K In Cash: Police

A 34-year-old Crofton man with $20K in cash suspected of selling an estimated $17K in heroin, fentanyl and cocaine has been arrested.

A search warrant executed in February on a home located in the 900 block of Eastham Court that was linked to Matthews Jr. yielded the seizure of a handgun, drug paraphernalia and cash.

CROFTON, MD — After several months of investigating an individual suspected of selling CDS heroin, fentanyl and cocaine in the county, Anne Arundel County police officers arrested 34-year-old Michael Rodell Matthews Jr. of Crofton.

A search warrant executed in February on a home located in the 900 block of Eastham Court that was linked to Matthews Jr. yielded the seizure of the following items:

  • One (1) Taurus .357 SIG handgun
  • Ten (10) unspent rounds of Speer .357 SIG
  • One (1) plastic bag containing suspected CDS fentanyl - 140.71 grams or approx. 5.025 ounces, with a street value of $14,000 U.S. currency
  • One (1) plastic bag containing suspected CDS crack cocaine - 29.21 grams or approx. 1 ounce, with a street value of $2,800 U.S. currency
  • One (1) glass jar containing a green plant-like substance, suspected marijuana - 7.94 grams, with a street value of $158.80 U.S. currency
  • One (1) functional black digital scale containing white powder residue
  • Two (2) cell phones
  • 2018 Honda Accord
  • $20,526 in US currency
