He left the Southern Railroad in 1956 and moved his family north to take a position with Western Electric as a cord, cable, and wire manager, and be close to his wife’s family. They moved a few more times in Maryland, finally settling in Severna Park in 1965. He was active in the Lions Club and the Severna Park Methodist Church.

He retired in 1985 and became an active math tutor with the Sons of Pioneers and worked with students in many school systems. He also worked with Meals On Wheels and Hospice. He was an avid golfer all of his life and enjoyed singing in The Sons of the Severn, a Barbershop Choir for many years. He also was a big Ravens and Crimson Tide football fan.

In 2004, he moved from Severna Park and settled into a condo in Gambrills. His wife moved into the Crofton Convalescent Center, where she lived until her death in 2013. Dad cared for Mom daily and truly showed his family what “Till death do us part” means.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the home of Tom Wetterau, 791 Harness Creek View Drive in Annapolis. Family and friends are invited.

The family requests no flowers, but any donations in his name should be sent to the Severna Park Methodist Church, where he and his wife were active for many years.
