Bowie Motorcyclist Killed In Crofton Crash: Police Report
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, an SUV was changing lanes in order to turn right when the motorcyclist hit it.
CROFTON, MD — A 31-year-old Bowie man was killed when the motorcycle he was operating crashed into the side of an SUV Saturday night. The incident occurred at approximately 11:27 p.m. in the area of Crain Highway South and Cronson Boulevard in Crofton.
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Sergei Alexander Bower was heading south on Crain Highway as was a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 45-year-old Marques Dewayne Haden of Upper Marlboro. A police report noted that the Equinox took off from a stop at a red traffic signal heading south and began to change lanes in order to turn right into a gas station parking lot. The motorcycle hit the right side of the Equinox, throwing Bower.
Haden and an 11-year-old boy were inside the SUV and uninjured. Bower was pronounced dead at the scene. It has not been determined whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, the police report noted. The incident is under investigation and toxicology results are pending. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s office upon completion.
