New Crofton High School Awaits Final Name Choice

CROFTON, MD — The community rallied to the challenge of naming the new Crofton Area High School and submitted 80 names for consideration. Five submitted names will not be considered because they refer to people who are either alive or have been deceased for less than three years per board policy.

The remaining 75 names will be voted on when Principal Kathryn Feuerherd holds a community meeting Monday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at Crofton Middle School. The board will then be presented with the winning name in September.

The names, which can be read below and found here, reflect people of local, national and international prominence, geographic regions and area landmarks. More than 300 emails suggesting names were received.
