Suspicious Package Closed Polling Place Temporarily In Crofton
Those voting early at one site in Anne Arundel County had to clear out as authorities investigated a possible hazard.

CROFTON, MD — One polling place in Anne Arundel County experienced a disruption Thursday during the first day of early voting. A suspicious package in the parking lot at Crofton Community Library led to the temporary closure of the polls there for about two hours.
At 1:35 p.m., the Anne Arundel Board of Elections reported the Crofton polling center had temporarily closed.
During the investigation, voters were directed to the Odenton library to cast their ballots.

By 3:30 p.m., election officials said that operations had returned to normal after investigators determined the package contained electronics.
Before the probe into the package, WYPR reported turnout in Crofton was strong, with a steady stream of voters heading to the polls.

There are a total of seven places to participate in early voting in Anne Arundel County ahead of the Nov. 6 election.
