My father fought in that Pacific campaign as a member of the 101st Airborne Forces, where he saw action in the Philippines.
His name was Charles W. Beeler Jr. He died in 2001 at the age of 81.

We are losing around 492 WWII vets per day. In fact, at the Pearl Harbor reunion, many speculated that this year would be the last year for any survivors to gather.
Let us remember the service that these fighting men gave to this great nation. We should never forget their sacrifice, like I will never forget my father.

I gave one of my dear friends one of the Japanese rifles my father brought home from the war in order that it may live on.
My younger friend, a collector of war memorabilia will safeguard my fathers rifle long after I'm gone.
