Allen Brougham Inducted Into Md. Senior Citizens Hall Of Fame

An Integrace Fairhaven resident was recognized for volunteer civic and humanitarian accomplishments.

Integrace Fairhaven is proud to announce that resident Allen Brougham has been inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Mr. Brougham was one of 50 inductees honored at the annual awards luncheon at Michael’s Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie on October 26, 2017.

Incorporated in 1987, the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame recognizes and honors the volunteer civic and humanitarian accomplishments of Maryland senior citizens age 65 years and older.

Mr. Brougham was chosen for the Hall of Fame based on his extensive volunteer efforts both within Fairhaven and the greater community. He has been instrumental in improving and maintaining Fairhaven’s two-mile network of nature trails – clearing and re-surfacing paths, installing benches, and working with local Eagle Scouts to build bridges and a sheltered seating area. He also serves as Fairhaven’s community hymn-sing coordinator, dining services committee secretary, and a member of the Yerby Medallion Committee, which honors residents for their volunteer efforts. Mr. Brougham and his dog, Cooper, also regularly visit Fairhaven’s health care center to provide comfort and companionship for rehabilitation guests.

Mr. Brougham’s contributions extend beyond Fairhaven’s campus, as he is the oldest in-house umpire for Sykesville Baseball, having worked games for the past ten years. He also volunteers on a citizen’s committee in Sykesville exploring a planned walking trail between Sykesville and Eldersburg.

An employee of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and CSX Corporation for more than 30 years, Mr. Brougham is still a member of the Northern Central Railroad Hereford Volunteers Association, which supports the work of the Department of Natural Resources on the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. He is currently chair of the association’s bike ride and picnic committees.
