Alvin L. Vaughn, 79
The carpenter and lifetime member of the American Legion passed away Jan. 20.

Alvin L. Vaughn, 79, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.
Born Sept. 18,1935, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Robert and Hilda Vaughn. He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (nee Surrett) Vaughn of Sykesville.
Alvin was a carpenter for many years and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 223. He was also a former county commander of the American Legion.

Alvin is survived by his four children, June Byrd of Florida, Teresa Vaughn-Schafer and husband Harry of Sykesville, Paul Vaughn of Sykesville, Robert Vaughn and wife Holly Vaughn of Westminster and the late Alvin L. Vaughn Jr. Alvin is also survived by his two sisters, Bernice and husband Kenneth Linton of Sykesville and Denise and husband Jay McClure of Las Vegas, as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 6416 Sykesville Rd, on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to Carroll Hospice Dove House of 292 Stoner Ave. in Westminster, MD 21157,The American Legion Post 223 in Sykesville or the American Cancer Society.
