The Downtown Sykesville Connection was awarded the title of Coolest Small Town in America in June 2016. At this time a logo was created and used for the production of t-shirts, car magnets, cups, and bottles.

In June of 2020, the Downtown Sykesville Connection (DSC) was crowned “Best Main Street in America” after 3 months of voting, amongst 160 entries.

The DSC is launching a logo design contest for the creation of a logo that is sympathetic to the old “Coolest Small Town” logo and DSC brand logo (see below).

The new logo must incorporate the terms “Coolest”, “Best”, and “Sykesville” as it is a celebration of the award of the 2016 and 2020 titles and will be used to create commemorative merchandise.

The official award of the Best Main Street in America contest will be presented to the DSC at the Let Freedom Ring Parade on Saturday, July 3rd by Independent We Stand. The winner of the logo contest will be announced during this ceremony.

Participants must be professionals or residents of Carroll or Howard Counties and be at least 16 years old.

Designs must include a full-color version, and be compatible with black only, knock-out (white) versions.

Upon selection of the design and award, the review committee (composed of DSC board members and staff) will work with the designer on up to three (3) rounds of iteration and a choice of color palette

After delivery of the final logo file, copyrights of the logotype will be automatically assigned as follows:

• The DSC will own the graphics and other visual elements that have been created for this project.
