Dorothy "Dottie" Louise Brown, 74

Dorothy “Dottie” Louise Brown, 74, of Sykesville, died at her home on Dec. 22, 2014. Dottie was the daughter of the late James and Thelma Jenkins, and the wife of Charles E. Brown for 43 years.

Dottie was born Nov. 10, 1940 in Woodbine. She was a member of the graduating class of 1958 from Sykesville High School. She retired from Springfield Hospital after 38 years. After retiring, she went to work at the Belk Department Store and retired after 16 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Angelique Garver of Sabillasville, whom she raised. She was an active member of Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church.

Dottie is survived by a sister, Joan Jennings of Florida, son Duane and wife Debbie Garver of Woodbine, and granddaughter Heather Weiss and husband Thomas of Columbia. She is also survived by 3 stepsons, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, a niece, several nephews, and numerous cousins and extended family.

Friends may call at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., located at 1212 W. Old Liberty Road in Sykesville, on Friday, Dec. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. to offer condolences. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Arthur Monroe officiating.

Interment will be at Morgan Chapel U.M. Church Cemetery, Woodbine, MD.
