Eldersburg Man Dies In Howard County Crash: Police

Police said that a 28-year-old Eldersburg man died Saturday night in crash.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD - An Eldersburg man died Saturday night in a crash in Ellicott City, police said.

Charles Allen Honaker, 28, of Eldersburg, was driving north on US 29 when his vehicle left the road, hit a tree and a struck a light pole, authorities reported.

Honaker was ejected from his 2003 Nissan Altima after the crash, which occurred at 11:08 p.m., according to the Howard County Police Department. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The light pole that Honaker hit fell into the road and caused a minor collision between two other vehicles, which officials reported did not cause other injuries.

The ramp from US 29 north to US 40 east was closed until about 1:30 a.m.

Based on their preliminary investigation, police said that speed appeared to be a factor in the collision.
