Eldersburg Teen Marching In Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade

A student at Liberty High School will be leading a marching band through the streets of Philadelphia on Thanksgiving 2017.

ELDERSBURG, MD — A Liberty High School student will reportedly lead the way in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade along with three other drum majors. Within a marching band, drum majors are those who lead the group, often with a baton.

Maya Lee, 16, of Eldersburg, is the drum major for the Tournament of Bands All-Star Marching Band at the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade for the second year in a row, according to the Carroll County Times.

The Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia will take place at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23. Marching bands and other entertainers will travel along a 1.4-mile route in a parade that is known as the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the U.S.
