Goddard Systems, Inc. (GSI), the franchisor of The Goddard School® preschool system, announced today its newest school is opening in Mt. Airy, Md. Located at 2002 Back Acre Circle in Mt. Airy, the new school is owned by first time franchisees and Goddard School parents, Gina Del Gandio and her husband Doug. To mark the occasion, the community is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 12. Local dignitaries are expected to attend.
“As Goddard School parents, we strongly believe in the high quality childcare and education this institution provides,” said Gina, on-site owner of The Goddard School located in Mt. Airy. “We look forward to welcoming families and are excited to personally share our own wonderful preschool experience with our community.”
The grand opening festivities at The Goddard School located in Mt. Airy will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12. In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, families will enjoy face painting, indoor and outdoor games, crafts and snow cones provided by The Kona Ice Truck. Families who enroll during this event will receive 50% off the first month's tuition.

This is the first Goddard School franchise for husband and wife team, Gina and Doug Del Gandio but, since their two children attended The Goddard School located in Urbana, they are personally familiar with the brand’s mission and vision. Gina will oversee day-to-day operations, while Doug will assist with maintenance and marketing from behind the scenes. Prior to franchising with The Goddard School, Gina managed the finance and operations departments for a training and consulting firm, and Doug continues to own and operate a landscape design and build company. The couple’s two children will attend school at the new Mt. Airy location.
The Goddard School preschool system operates on a dual-management system, distinctive in the early childhood education industry. Each location is managed on-site by the franchise owner, as well as an educational director responsible for working with teachers and implementing the curriculum. The Mt. Airy school opening is part of GSI’s expansion plan across the United States to open 30 new schools per year by 2019.
