Helen Joy Garrity, 96

Helen Joy Garrity (nee Biddison), 96, of Sykesville, died Monday, Jan. 19, at Golden Living Center in Westminster.

Born June 5, 1918 in Baltimore, Helen was the daughter of the late Otho N. and Helen E. (Buckley) Biddison. She was predeceased by husband Russell Garrity.

Helen was a member of the Moose Lodge in Catonsville and loved casinos and playing Bingo.

Surviving are children Janet Hammersla and her husband Pete of Sykesville, Barbara Bendig of PA, William Billingslea of WV, Robert Billingslea and his wife Debra of Relay, Helen Blum and her husband James of Joppa, Charles Billingslea and his wife Diana of NY and Leon Cassell Jr. of WA. Helen is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-granddaughters.

Helen was predeceased by brother Charles Biddison, sister Anna Weinhold, son-in-law Eugene Bendig and great-grandson T.J. Hall.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, located at 6416 Sykesville Rd. in Sykesville. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
