Jeannine “Nina” May Lafiner, 56, of Eldersburg, died Sunday, Jan. 4, at University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Born Feb. 21, 1958 in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Mayo James and Naomi Jeannine (Sleeger) Lafiner. She was the wife of the late Bud Burkhard.
Nina was a state trooper and retired from the Maryland State Police Department. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are children Rose Marick and her husband John of Mount Airy, and Amanda Teller of Columbia; stepmother Marilyn Lafiner of MN; father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth and Eileen Cobleigh of NC; brother Jim Lafiner and his wife Mary of Eldersburg; grandchildren Owen, Lily, Logan, and Maggie Marick.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, located at 6416 Sykesville Rd. in Sykesville. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. Interment is private and will be at Ebenezer UMC Cemetery in Taylorsville.
