Liberty High School Drama's Fiddler on the Roof!

One more weekend! April 12 and 13

Liberty Drama's opening weekend of Fiddler on the Roof had the audience mesmerized. From the singing to the dancing they grabbed the audience from the start. Written by Joseph Stein and composed by Jerry Bock, this Broadway musical has been a treasured classic in the hearts of many since it debuted in 1964.

The show follows the story of Tevye, a poor milk man and his family in the small village of Anatevka, during tsarist Russia, in the early 20th century. He has to balance staying true to the Jewish faith while being driven out of his home by the government.

Traditionally, the young girls of Anatevka are paired up in matchmaking ceremonies. However, Tevye’s oldest daughter Tzeitel, is in love with her childhood friend, Motel Kamzoil. Meanwhile, her younger sister Hodel is interested in Perchik, a radical student from a nearby college. And Chava, the youngest of the three, is willing to completely break the bonds of traditional matrimony and marry outside the faith.
