Liberty Reservoir Opens; Prettyboy Still Closed for Boaters: Officials
Some boat ramps opened Wednesday, Baltimore Public Works officials announced.

Boat ramps at Liberty Reservoir are now open, the Baltimore Department of Public Works announced Wednesday.
Usually boating season starts March 1 but it was delayed this year due to ice, which public works officials said is still a concern.
“...ice remains in some Liberty Reservoir coves,” according to the announcement, so boaters should be careful.

Prettyboy Reservoir remains closed because “large sections of the reservoir [are] still covered with ice,” the announcement said.
The department credited higher temperatures in recent weeks with melting the ice at Liberty.

Loch Raven Reservoir will open on schedule for boaters—April 3—and will remain open until the last Sunday in November, public works officials reported.
Boating at all three reservoirs requires a valid boating permit. For more information on boating permits, contact the Department of Natural Resources at 410-795-6150. Also, check out regulations online.
