Police Presence at Liberty High Increases After Scare: Sheriff
Carroll County schools will have more patrols in the near term 'out of an abundance of caution,' sheriff's office reports.

ELDERSBURG, MD – The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports it has ramped up its presence at Liberty High School after a security breach on campus and a false alarm involving social media.
“The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Public Schools take the safety and security of students and staff seriously. While there is no current information indicating any threat to Carroll County Schools, out of an abundance of caution, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing patrols of the Schools,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Authorities increased their vigilance after a student from another Carroll County school entered Liberty early Wednesday afternoon without following visitation procedures in place, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators learned of a social media post from several months ago that “taken out of context appeared threatening in nature,” according to the sheriff’s office, which determined this was unrelated.
